Experience

Michael is passionate about numbers. Early on, his natural ability and interest pulled him away from legal studies and set him on the path of accounting, VAT and taxation. 21 years into his career, he continues to excel with figures, much to the benefit of his team and international portfolio of global clients. The ever-changing nature of the VAT sector appeals to his desire to constantly learn and be challenged.

After a brief time at State Street Bank Luxembourg in 2000, Michael took a position at PWC Luxembourg where he specialized in VAT and taxation. His ease with numbers and drive to succeed enabled Michael to rise up the ranks, most recently as VAT Senior Manager, where he managed a team of 30 people advising mostly finance and real estate clients on VAT and tax optimization and compliance. After 16 years, he left PWC to join VAT Solutions and step into a more operational role on the front line with e-commerce clients in Luxembourg, the European Union, and across the globe.

Education and qualifications

Michael holds three diplomas – Luxembourg taxation “Fiscalité – Cycle A”, Luxembourg taxation “Fiscalité – Cycle B”, and “the VAT Returns” – from the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. He is a qualified engineer with a master’s degree in Management Sciences from the University Institute in Metz, France. He also holds a two-year degree in Business Administration (Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie) from the University Institute in Metz.
He was a member of the order of Luxembourg Chartered Accountants (Ordre des Experts Comptables) between 2006 and 2017.

About

Michael is passionate about mechanics, especially cars and motorcycles, and making things with his hands. He taught himself DIY in order to single-handedly renovate his home. Always one to help out, Michael has been known to use his tools around the office as well.
